60th stamp, woot!

So, this is a topic that really touches me, because nowadays, people seem to be so preoccupied by women's rights and all that jazz that we forget about what the other sex can endure as well. No, this stamp is not meant to degrade women in any way, and if you think so, then you are probably just another feminazi here to lecture me on how men deserve to be abused because women had it hard in the past.

Here's a little story I'd like to tell you. We were once in class, and since it was the end of the year, we had to propose different topics to debate on. It would range from 'Which is your favourite colour?' to 'What do you think about abortion?'. I decided to propose talking about rape, sexism and abuse against men. Quickly, things heated up and many people started saying that such things do not exist. Even guys themselves would claim that men enjoy rape. I found it really disgusting, but didn't bother debating at all; I knew it was hopeless. I know a teacher in our school who could be considered a feminazi. She says abuse against men is okay because of what other men before have done to women. Really, I'm wondering if I'm the one being crazy in this place.

So, bottom line is, abuse in any form happens to men too, be it rape, verbal abuse, sexism, etc. It's not because women had it rough in the past that men, who sometimes are completely innocent and have nothing against women's right, should have to go through the same shit again.

Agreed. I can see how it's a touchy subject, given that women are much more likely to be raped and abused, and men still have much more power than women, globally and even in the US (I confess I know nothing of women's rights in Canada and the UK, but holy friggen hell, America, another state is trying to overturn Roe v. Wade, and I am getting scared.)

But I had a really good friend who had a PSYCHOTIC ex girlfriend who kidnapped him at gunpoint and beat him regularly, so when he finally escaped (he had to run away barefoot while she tried to chase him) he had to go to the emergency room with a broken nose and a minor concussion... and then the courts denied him a restraining order, and then he was arrested on charges of abuse because she told everyone "He was hitting *me*, it was self defense!" Thankfully the charges were dropped because her previous boyfriend testified, but fucking A, man. If their genders were reversed that bitch would be in JAIL. Ugh. Makes me sick.

OMG!! I don't like to talk about it but as a women who's gone through rape as a child I Totally agree with this stamp! AND I FUCKING WENT THROUGH IT!! Under no circumstances is it all right to harm a Man because his father's, father's, father called a women useless or ever seriously harmed a women of his time.

No HUMAN should have to go through such a thing.... And if people think that than you are cruel and sexist!We should be treating all as equals; Men, African Americans, Women, all should be treated according to how they treat others.

It's okay, it's nice to see that even people who went through it can still see that other people can be victims of abuse, and that it doesn't make it right. I've seen people who were victims actually tell others that the abuse they had to endure wasn't 'real' because they were men, and that really makes me mad, since they should be the ones understanding their situation.
